The world of insects is truly amazing and seriously under appreciated by children today.  There are more than a million species of insects on this planet with many yet to be described.  More than 50% of the species on earth are insects.

 The collecting and preserving of insects is a hobby that seems to be in decline, the joy and wonders of raising an insect, hatching a cocoon or raising a ant colony are the things that once and still can install a wonder in nature into the next generation.

The preserving insects is one of the few ways of being able to explore and appreciate the incredible diversity the Phylum offers.
