Venus Fly Trap Varieties Cultural Information Commercial Venus Flytraps
Paradisia Nurseries is one of the worlds largest producers of carnivorous plants, supplying potted and bare rooted material Australia wide and through parts of Asia.
Paradisia has expanded its productions to the point were we can now offer some of our products as export items. Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere therefore we are able to supply Venus Fly Traps out of season to Northern Hemisphere customers. Being at opposite seasons means that our plants can be supplied fully grown when local plants have not yet begun to grown. Our plants are grown under very high sunlight and exposure so are considered to be very hardy and of a very high standard. They have been grown with very low amounts of nutrient so retain strong fleshy leaves and pitchers with full colour.
Our plants are available as bare rooted items and also as potted and finished products ready for sale. We have had very good success shipping potted VFT's to Asian markets ready for immediate sale.

Venus Fly Traps
Clone No 1 is a form that has green stems and very red leaves from November to April . The colour is controlled by us and hence most of our stock is a soft pink green. If red is required we must prepare the stock for at least 1 month to strengthen the colour by slowing down growth.
Clone No 2 is green to green yellow and produces short big traps on the ground in warmer months.
Clone No 3 is a green short plant that grows well even in winter.
Akai Ryu The all red VFT. These are actually a deep burgundy brown on the stem and leaf all year with best colour in summer.
Saw Tooth The dentate VFT. This plant has a saw like tooth quite different from normal VFT's. This clone produces a tall upright leaf with a thick stem. Leaves a green in spring but turn a pink colour in Autumn.
Big Mouth is an extremely good short VFT that has a short growth habit but retains a very good red in the mouth all year, even on young plants irrespective of the cultural conditions. The other clones are all under trial.
Cephalotus Follicularis
Albany pitcher plants are now available in limited numbers as small plants with 3 to 5mm pitchers.
Sarracenias
Sarracenias are being developed for export sales and a number of varieties will be available over the next year with over 20 varieties being introduced within 2 years.
Heliamphora
Heliamphora hetrodoxa will be available in limited numbers and nutans is being developed.
Drocera's
Drocera Hamiltonii and Drocera filliformis will soon be available as an export item.
