Stibnite Ordering Information * * * * * * * * Return to Gems Index Page Stibnite was known in the tomes of ancient Greece. its name has been derived from the Greek Stibi, a silver grey make-up for darkening the eyelids. In Japan, stibnite columns of linear crystals up to a meter long were used for fencing miniature gardens or to support plants. Large stibnite druze were used in Japanese homes as decorator minerals. Unfortunatly, the classic Japanese stibnite specimens are so highly values that good specimens are beyond the reach of most collectors. Fortunatly for todays collectors, excellent stibinite specimens are now being found in china and command a much prices.
