| Gold was
first discovered in California by James Marshall on the 24th of January, 1849. This
discovery of alluvial gold triggered one of histories greatest gold rushes. Since
then, modern miners have tried to trace gold upstream to where it originally formed.
Such deposits are referred to as "mother loads". |
