Opals Main Page    Belemnites    Shells    "Pineapples"

These objects were once sea shells.   Over millions of years the original shell has been completely eaten away and replaced with precious opal so that we now have these beautiful Opalized replicas of the original shell.  The prices vary from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars depending on the rarity of the shell and the quality of the opal.

Coobar Pedy is the worlds best producer of these rare Opalized fossils.
