Broken Hill, in the Barrier Ranges of New South Wales is one of the planets mineralogical highlights.  It has produced many world class specimens of exceedingly high quality.  Some fine pieces are presented here.  Broken Hill specimens are no longer mined as access to the mines has been shut down.

Most pictures will lead you to JPEG's of approximately 18k to 30k

Australia possesses several renowned metalliferous deposits.  The most famous of these is Broken Hill where lead was mined as late as 1992.  Cerussite was exploited as a source of lead so many fine specimens were lost.  Those that were saved displayed fine reticular strutting and Broken Hill is one of the worlds leading producers of reticulated Cerussite.  Lesser known localities that produced this lead carbonate were Browns Deposit and various localities in Tasmania.
