Paradisia Nurseries was first conceived in 1980 as an extension of our hobbies. Two brothers, Jeno and Attila Kapitany decided to turn their rapidly growing hobby into a business. In 1983, our youngest brother, Tom, had become involved in the business and the seed for Collectors Corner was sown.

Since inception, the company has grown from a small backyard operation to now three operational nurseries with a total growing area of over 30,000 sq meters producing over 1,500,000 plants per year. The company employs on average about 75 full-time staff year round spread over 10 specialized sections that are covered in parts of these pages. The growth of our company has been due to our specialized staff and the many specialized nurseries that work with us, not against us in developing our products.

In 1988, Paradisia Nurseries became Paradisia Pty Ltd and soon after expanded into an international concern.

Paradisia is a world leader in promoting and developing specialist plants and many of our products are exported world wide. Many pottery items used around the world for Cacti and Tillandsias have been copied from designs created by our company over the years. Our selection of labels and packaging is regularly on exhibit around the world.

Attila Kapitany left the company in 2000 to pursue a career in writing and Tom now manages a gem wholesale business called Crystal World and Prehistoric Journey's as the growth in this department was far to great to be managed by Paradisia Pty Ltd.

	Paradisia Nurseries The wholesale and production nursery distributing cacti, tillandsias and carnivorous plants for the Australian market and for export sales.

Paradisia Laboratories The tissue culture facilities created to supply the nurseries demand for more orchids, carnivorous plants and bromeliads. Contract work is also performed.

	Orchid World An 8,000 sq meter production nursery growing a wide range of orchids for distribution across Australia and for export. Retail for Orchid World is maintained in the Collectors Corner facility.

Collectors Corner The retail nursery in Keysborough, first opened in 1985 and rebuilt in 1987. Collectors Corner houses our Gemstones, Fossils and Meteorites in addition to being the retail arm of the production nurseries.

	Spirit of Bonsai Housed at Collectors Corner, our bonsai section holds the finest display of bonsai available in Australia as well as offering a complete range of bonsai plants and accessories for retail sales.

Gem World Housed at Collectors Corner, Gem World has grown dramatically over the past 10 years to the point where we are now a major dealer of high class natural gems, fossils, sea shells and meteorites. We have access to material from across the world and attend many of the worlds large gem shows.
