Opals Main Page Belemnites Shells "Pineapples"
Opal holds a special place within the mineral kingdom as it displays an unmistakable "play of colour". Some of the finest and most unusual specimens have been found in Australian mines. Coobar Pedy, is renowned as a source of opalised fossils while White Cliffs has produced opalised "pineapples" a unique formation that resulted from precious opal chemically replacing crystallized glauberite millions of years ago. Collectors Corner also offer fine cut opals and rough opals but these will not be available on the internet at this stage.
