The following varieties of VFT are grown by Paradisia and are available to commercial growers around the world.  Minimum order is $500 worth of plants, prices are on application.  Shipping costs are $A98 for a phytosanitary certificate and shipping is about $A20 per kg for orders under 5kg.  Plants weight between 500 & 800 grams per tray.

No 1 Clone

is a typical VFT form that has green stems and very red leaves from November to April . The colour is controlled by fertiliser levels and hence most of our stock is a soft pink green. If red is required we must prepare the stock for at least 1 month to strengthen the colour by slowing down growth. No 1 is chosen as it grows well all year and is a vigorous grower.
Good winter grower.

No 2 Clone

A green to green yellow form that produces short stemmed large traps on the ground in warmer months. Good winter grower.

No 3 Clone is a short stemmed green plant that grows well even in winter and is similar to No 2.

No's 5 & 6 Akai Ryu

The all red VFT. These are actually a deep burgundy brown on the stem and leaf all year with best colour in summer.  Goes into dormancy early and recovers late, winter growth is almost below ground.

No 7 Saw Tooth

The dentate VFT. This plant has a saw like tooth quite different from normal VFT's. This clone produces a tall upright leaf with a thick stem. Leaves a green in spring but turn a pink colour in autumn. Goes almost fully dormant in late Autumn and recovers mid spring.

No 8 Big Mouth

is an extremely good short VFT that has a compact prostrate growth habit but retains a very good red in the mouth all year, even on young plants irrespective of the cultural conditions.  Goes almost dormancy in late Autumn with very small winter growth and recovers with very dramatic and rapid growth in very early in spring.  Will form the largest leaves of all VFT in spring and has huge summer traps on very short stems.  Big Mouth is slow to grow as a juvenile but once mature can keep up with the best of them. This is one of the best commercial VFT varieties.

No 9 Clone

This is a brother to No 7, The Saw Tooth but has normal teeth.  This is a great VFT for spring and early summer sales as it is the first to produce upright leaves and will bush up very fast in spring.  Winter growth is very small and almost below ground.

 No 11

is another upright green VFT with a later growing season than No 9.

No 12

is another upright VFT produced to offer a different upright shape.  Leaves are green and almost all upright except in Autumn when the leaves stay on the ground and go pink.

No's 14 & 15

These are in our opinion the ultimate VFT.  Bred over 3 generations these two clones are proving to be as good as the original test plants.  Shape and growth are typical of the classic VFT with short ground hugging spring leaves and upright summer leaves but unlike typical VFT's the growth rate is exceptional and leaf count high.  Both clones grow all year, even in very cold climates and will produce a commercial product in mid winter.   One test plant reached 18 cm across with 4.5cm traps at 24 months of age by mid summer, winter leaves can reach 1.5cm and single heads can carry 10 to 12 leaves in winter.  Plants are typically green with broad leaves, some traps will turn an intense red in summer if nitrogen levels are reduced.

Most Venus Fly trap varieties are sold by the tray. Each tray was originally planted with 64 small clusters and grown for 8 to 12 months.  The tray will yield at least 100 clusters or larger corms and in some cases could yield 500 or more plants when fully divided.  We recommend in most cases to plant 2 to 4 smaller plants together for best results.  Best trays are available from November to April and plants are shipped bare rooted with leaves intact.  This will allow the plants to be potted and established in a sellable state within 4 to 8 weeks from potting.  Winter plant size is much smaller but yields are the same if not higher.  Each tray will contain a mix of sizes from match stick thickness to corms as thick as a pencil or larger.  Size will vary between varieties with some having larger corms than others because of their growth habit.
