S001
S. minor
Minor is a slower growing species and so is
offered only in small numbers, better for collectors than commercial
growers.
|
 |
S002
S.
Daniel Rudd This
particularly good hybrid is amongst the best of all commercial Sarracenias and produces stocky leaves up to 30cm high with the same
colour as a leucophylla. Many traps are produced and is one of the
first to be ready in Spring. Traps are strong and not to tall
making this probably the best of the tall Sarracenias. |
 |
S003 Umlanftiana 'No
4' This
superb hybrid is one of the most beautiful of all sarracenia hybrids
forming strong upright stems up to 25cm high and 8cm across.
Looks great at any size as even small plants with almost no corm form
mature leaf shape. Large specimens are highly prized and worth
producing. |
 |
S004
S. Paradisia 'Green
Form'
((oreophylla x
leucophylla) x purpurea)
This hybrid
was bred by us to create a short upright plant that is highly commercial and
will quickly fill a pot. Mature traps can reach 25cm and be 8cm across on
the hood. Mature traps appear on juvenile plants in pots as small as
5cm. Flowers freely on mature plants. The green form develops veins
after trap is fully mature and will only redden lat in the season whereas the
red form S010 will develop veins before maturing and fully redden when
hardened. Veins can be very attractive from Spring to Summer and
leaves remain until early winter.

S005
S. EvedineA
number of upright tall Sarracenia forms are maintained by Paradisia,
these have been selected from our huge collection and are offered in
smaller numbers to offer our customers a greater selection. These
taller forms are good pot plants but are better suited to 10cm or larger
pots as juvenile leaves are not very ornamental and will fall over in a
nursery environment if watered. Best sold as a clustering plant as
each head only carries 4 to 6 traps at a time.
|
 |
S006
S. Leucophylla hybrid
Willisii is one of the few upright Sarras that
is worth adding into a commercial range as juvenile leaves can be
attractive and will stand up well.
S007 S willisii is also available in limited
quantities.
|
 |
S010
S. Paradisia 'Red Form'
((oreophylla x
leucophylla) x purpurea)
Like S004 this has been bred for pot
plant production, frills are 50% larger than S004 and this form is red
on soft growth and gets very dark on maturity so looks very different to
S004. Single heads can carry 10 to 12 leaves and will hold its
shape until well into winter..

 |
S011
S. Courtii 'Paradisia' This
is a superb hybrid made to order for pot plant cultivation. Leaves are
rigid and hard to damage and will remain all year. Traps can reach 12cm
long and 5cm across on the mouth. Looks great from an early age, only
disadvantage is that it overhangs the pot. Picture

S012
S. purpurea This
purpurea was chosen by us many years ago because of its compact growth
habit and strong smooth leaves. Overall appearance is very good
and growth is slower than venosa but still acceptable as a commercial
product.
|
 |
S013
S.
Purpurea v Hetrophylla
The green purpurea, this is a
rare collectors item, growth is compact and close to the corm.
Slower growing.
|
 |
S014
S. Purpurea spp. venosa
This is a selected purpurea form producing very
attractive leaves that do not go purple but retain the heavily veined
look. The picture show the leaf form but normal growth habit is
far more compact and dense with many ofsetts quickly filling up the
base.

Sarracenias are sold by the
corm or cluster and come in the following sized.
Small, corms about the size of
3mm, these will form short but well shaped traps that will look good in a 60mm
pot within 3 months, taller varieties may take longer.
Medium, corms about 5 to 6mm,
these will fill an 8cm pot within 3 months and may offset.
Large (mature), corms 6 to
10mm, these will fill a 10cm pot and will cluster freely with small size corms
at the end of 3 months depending on variety. Some offsets may already be
on corms.
Adult, corms 12 to 18mm across,
these suit 12cm pots and will cluster freely. Some forms are flowering
size and traps will be formed full size.
Plants shipped overseas will in
most cases be sent without traps as this is the only way to keep freight costs
down. Plants are best shipped in May to Augusts are this is their
Australians dormant period, new growth in Sept to December will be damaged and
plants shipped over this period will take longer to establish.
